Today was a day full of progress. After work today, I got home and managed to get some work done on the Cougars. We didn’t get that much done today, but I managed to get a handle on the scale and the process of things.
First, wipe the drool from your keyboards and let me actually show you the parts recipient.
This Cougar is a Seattle native, my friend is the fourth owner. He’s stripped it out and is in the process of finishing the repaint. he’s almost done with that, he just needs to wet sand the body a few more times then buff it out.
While he was sanding down the car, I was busy working on the brake transfusion. the deal with that is the parts car has disk and the recipient has drums all around. So the front of the car was lifted up and I got to work removing the disk and backing plates.
The deal with the parts car is that it’s gross... My friend’s mom says it has Cooties. I call it the Cootie-wagon... Or most recently The Tetanus-wagon. On the outside, it looks beautiful, but once you’re inside you can feel the death that this car has met...
I managed to get the front end of the parts car free of its wheels and brake assemblies, and as of now it’s rendered useless. No more runs in the yard, it’s done. The plan is to sell it as a roller with inoperable drum brakes.
Back to old Red. The engine in it now was a 289 originally in a Ford Mustang, but something happened after my friend purchased it where something was sucked in the oil filter and chewed some stuff up, so there’s a new 302 crate engine sitting on the side waiting to go in.
So for the next week, he’ll be sanding... and sanding... Then buffing. So there will be more content coming soon.

Props for doing a cougar and not a mustang. Much prettier imo.

New crate and he didn’t go 351?
Man I’m jealous though.

I made the mistake of falling for the parts car, if you're in the area and want to help out one of these days feel free.

Umm....what are the reasons? lol I have a 302 in my Montego so don’t think I’m anti 302 or something.

dont forget to swap over the proportioning valve too, and probly the master cylinder.... some disc brake set ups come in at a different rate than the drum counterparts.
